Don't Be Serious

$60.00

NEW in 2017 from Kiddliewinks Music - Heather Monro and Nathan Glenn.

There are whole generations of children who have not grown up with orchestral music. We are determined to change this situation as there can be so much enjoyment and delight for children in orchestral music. This music is contemporary, fun and extremely engaging. In Don’t Be Serious, we use instruments from the whole orchestra and more to explore music that paints pictures and tells stories. We aim for children to be able to listen intently to the music, determining when the style of music changes, or when it’s time to do something else within that piece of music.

Use your imagination as you join the conga line, go marching, become fish in the sea, learn about the planets in our Solar System and find out more about our great country, Australia. We have varied the styles of music throughout this album to include Big Band Jazz, Marching, Latin, Symphonic Metal, Cinematic, Celtic and Easy Listening.

EDUCATOR REVIEWS

'I just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how wonderful the Don’t Be Serious CD and book is. Since its arrival we have had it on high rotation at Nar Nar Goon Kindergarten. The children ask for tracks from it every day. It's fabulous to have such good quality orchestrally diverse music for the children. We often have the backing tracks playing during lunch, leading to lots of discussions from the children about what the music is telling them or what its story is about. The teacher manual gives lots of great, easy to use ideas for dramatisation and movement. By far our favourite tracks are Sharkiparky, March of the Ants and The Magic Music Box. Thank you for providing quality music for early childhood. It’s a refreshing change from the kiddie pop currently being produced. This resource is an asset to any centre and we can't wait for more like this!' - Linda English, Early Childhood Teacher, Nar Nar Goon Kindergarten VIC, Australia.

'The Don't Be Serious CD & book is a fabulous resource for all Early childhood teachers. The book is very user friendly and is set out with great ideas. My EC classes have particularly loved participating in Marching to the Beat and Rush Hour Traffic.' - Ann Wolfe, Music Specialist, Blackman’s Bay Primary School, TAS Australia.
