D2 DRUMLINE - Training Corps Membership 2012

Training Corps Semester 1 2012

The D² Drumline  are excited to announce the second D² Training Corps semester.

Following the success of our pilot program in 2011, we have decided to continue and expand the program throughout 2012The D² Training Corps is a unique opportunity to get involved in the exciting and challenging world of marching percussion with some of Australia’s most experienced instructors.

The collective experience of our instructors includes:Ali Hassan (Snare): Lead Snare – University of California Drumline (USC) - Seattle Seahawks Drumline (professional corps for Seattle Seahawks Gridiron Team)Campbell Phillips (Multi-Instrumentalist): 2008 Beijing Olympic Orchestra Drumline - Director, D²Drumline - Director, Southern Stars DrumlineStephen Liew AmusA (Snare): 2000 Sydney Olympic Orchestra - Scholarship recipient to International Music Camp USA (1999) - Director, D²DrumlineEvery single member of the training corps will have an opportunity to play each instrument in the drumline and develop new skills which are invaluable to the modern musician.

The training corps runs 5 semesters a year, each 9 weeks long. During the semester we will take you from the very basics of what it is to play in a drumline, right through to playing advanced cadences, marching, and performing as an ensemble. Each semester will allow students to hone their skills and develop further, regardless of existing skill level, and also provides an amazing opportunity for those interested in auditioning for D² to get a head start. We will be taking individuals of all skill level providing you have a basic understanding of reading music and have played music before. To ensure everyone gets instruction tailored to THEIR skill level, we will then be dividing the students up into skill based drumline ensembles.

Each student will also receive a D² Training Pack which will include everything you need to get going: Books, Music, Specialized Drumline Sticks, and access to our huge online database of marching percussion material (normally only available to those playing in the Professional D²Drumline).
