Rain Tree: each Composer: Takemitsu Toru
Rain Tree is often considered a vibraphone solo with marimba accompaniment as the vibraphone part is the focus of the piece and is quite virtuosic. "It was named the 'rain tree', for its abundant foliage continued to let fall rain drops from the previous night's shower until the following midday. Its hundreds of thousands of tiny, finger like leaves store up moisture, whereas other trees dry out at once."
Instrumentation: Part A - Marimba (4 octaves) and 3 crotales. Part B - Marimba (4 octaves) and 3 crotales. Part C - Vibraphone and one octave set of crotales. This piece is approximately 12 minutes long
