Stand of Trees: each

Stand of Trees is a new piece for percussion ensemble, composed by Patricia G Borrell. Patricia is a percussionist and educator, living and working in Sydney, Australia. This piece was first performed at the 2017 Australian Percussion Eisteddfod by Balgowlah Heights Public School percussion ensemble.
Notes from the Composer:
In composing "Stand Of Trees" I have been inspired to represent and celebrate the diverse richness and great strength of trees.
Unseemingly, they are full of the activity of life, showing this in myriad colours, textures, shapes and fragrances. They support many other forms of life- bugs, birds, mammals and plant life such as lichens. I have seen trees growing in the most unlikely places - out of the sides of mountains...even sprouting new green growth after being completely blackened by a bushfire! Trees are the silent sentinels, forever reaching skywards, always watching...patiently waiting...for...
"Stand Of Trees" is composed for 5 percussionists from primary school age upwards, but still works well with smaller ensembles.
It requires formal, specialised technique on all percussion instruments, especially tambourine.
