Four Episodes for Solo Marimba: each Composer: Stout Gordon
These pieces were written in 1994 and 1995, and bear no particular relationship to each other. The first episode is a reworking of a previously composed, longer piece. The second Episode is a homage to Smadbeck's 'Rhythm Song'/ The third Episode pays respect to the wonderful 'Children's Songs' of Chick Corea. The fourth Episode is a result of spare time in the office. They may be performed together as a set of four, either in the numbered order, as the composer uses, or some other. They may also be played individually. Episodes #1-3 require a 4 1/2 octave (low F) marimba. Episode #4 requires a five octave (low C) marimba. - Gordon Stout
