Orchestra is the Advanced Level Xyloba with 96 parts.  Xyloba is a creative marble run for building and composing at the same time. Xyloba develops motor function and spatial imagination, and facilitates a creative approach to music.

Xyloba orchestra is ideally suited for kindergartens and nursery schools. The large number of building components encourage the children to participate. You can create a great variety of marble runs, using the 16 interchangeable sound modules to produce very fun and creative melodies.

It is truly a wonder from Switzerland that can last for generations. The simple interlocking Xyloba system allows an almost unlimited number of variations. The fun really begins when, in addition to building, one starts composing.

Providing children with access to the world of melodies and rhythms, an almost unlimited number of different setup variations, the opportunity to enhance their spatial imagination and a creative approach to music are but some of the features that make Xyloba exceptional. The chimes can also be randomly mounted and interchanged just for fun. Coincidences often result in enchanting melodies.

Xyloba allows children to have loads of fun discovering and recognising different note values, for instance ½ notes, ¼ notes, ⅛ notes as well as their dotted forms. The 20 different chimes, which range chromatically from G2 to D4, help distinguish between pitches and intervals. (All tunes sound two octaves higher than written.)

The Xyloba interlocking system has an almost unlimited number of different setup variations. The fun really begins when builders also compose music with Xyloba. Chimes of various pitches can be built into the marble run. Which chimes you use determine which melody will play. As the marble rolls down the track, it strikes the individually mounted chimes. Ramps of different lengths produce the rhythm. By referring to the composition instructions, even young children can construct fantastic tunes.

Xyloba musical marble runs are manufactured in the sheltered workshops of the Weizenkorn Foundation in Basel. Using raw wood, the individual Xyloba parts are drilled out, cut and sanded. Several manufacturing steps are performed manually and give people with disabilities the opportunity to be involved in a meaningful activity.

Xyloba is suitable for children above the age of 5. Under the supervision of their parents, children above the age of 3 can already start constructing musical runs with the piccolino and mezzo basic kits. Xyloba is not suitable for children below the age of 3.
