Michi for Marimba: each Composer: Abe Keiko
The title Mi-chi means pathway in Japanese, and indicates the different paths which people must tread throughout their life. At the same time Mi-chi refers to the path representing the pursuit of cosmic truth in Eastern philosophy. Most of Abe's compositions begin as improvisations. While much of Mi-chi is written out, Abe encourages the performer to improvise both the beginning and ending of the work.
