An Odaiko drum is the largest drum within a Japanese taiko ensemble, often meaning the 'big drum'.
It is a large, barrel-shaped drum, usually too big to be carried by one person, and played by two players who strike opposite sides.

Size:
Odaiko drums can vary in size, but they are generally larger than 2-3 shaku in diameter, which translates to around 60-90cm. Some can be even larger, with diameters exceeding one meter.

Playing:
The Odaiko is usually played by two players, one striking each side of the drum, creating a low, deep, and loud sound.

Use:
Odaiko drums are often used in traditional Japanese music, theater, and festive dances, serving as a bass drum.
