Theme with Six Variations: each Composer: Helble Raymond
One of Raymond Helble's many compositional talents is the ability to immitate the style of almost any famous composer. He can write convincingly in a way to persuade the listener that Mozart or Beethovan actually wrote for marimba. Not only is this set of variations a great way to study the performance style of these composers (without actually doing a transcription!), the set is also a delightful and slightly humorous treat for the audience. The compositional "slight of hand" is totally convincing. A theme in the style of Schubert, is followed with variations in the style of Mozart, Beethovan, Strauss, Dvorak, Chopin and Wagner.
